Field Set Up & Closure Details

At the beginning of each week, MSC will send out field instructions for teams to set up or close down the fields.  Detailed field set up and break-down instructions can be found HERE.

  • Generally speaking, the first game on Saturday or Sunday will required to set up the fields (moving goals & corner posts) and the last game on Saturday or Sunday will be required to close the fields (returning goals & corner posts).
  • When the fields sizes change throughout the day, we may ask teams to move/return goals
  • All Goals on the field MUST have sandbags holding the goals down and Corner Flags should be the appropriate flag for the field (turf flags have a base, grass flags are pointed to stick in the mud)
  • It is the manager's responsibility to coordinate the support necessary to open/close the fields. It typically requires 3-4 people to support and we suggest asking parents to assist.

Referee Fees

Each team is responsible for paying the referee before the game (split 50% with the opposing team).  Fees must be paid in cash and differ by league and age group.  All fees listed below are the MSC Team's responsibility.  We will reimburse managers at the beginning of each season.

Etiquette

We believe that playing soccer should be a positive experience that provides opportunities for young players to develop as players:

  • Support players encourage them at all times
  • Maintain a respectful distance from the field of play
  • Refrain from any conduct that will be detrimental to the player, team, club or league.
  • Always be polite and humble regardless of calls from officials.
  • Allow club officials (coaches, managers, etc.) to act as the leaders.
  • Be mindful of players’ emotions and damage caused to young players by overly aggressive sideline behavior.

To that point, Lopsided games – don’t do it! While sometimes hard to do, try to keep score differential to no more than 6 goals or so. Lopsided games are an excellent opportunity to provide additional playing time to the team or work on new positions/skills.  In addition, MidNJ has instituted a new policy and the winners of a lopsided game over 8 goals will be penalized a team point in the standings.

Any snafus on game day should be communicated to the Officer of the Weekend as the first point of contact. The phone number and email for the Officer will be provided on the weekly scheduling email.
