2025-2026 Team Formation Details

MSC plans to organize travel teams by birth year, the partial exception for 2011-2012 teams:

  • Commitment to Community: MSC is committed to fielding as many teams as possible and accommodating as many committed players as practical, while maintaining a high level of play.  As a result, while we will do our best to accomodate as many players as possible, we cannot guarantee placement for all players who tryout.
  • Flexibility: MSC retains the flexibility to combine players from different birth years into a single team if necessary to maintain competitive balance and ensure team viability.
  • U14/U15 Combination: U14 (2012) and U15 (2011) players will be considered together for tryouts and potential team placement. This allows for continued participation for older eighth-graders and ensures competitive team formation.  Many other clubs in the area take a similar approach and we look to match up against similarly formed teams.  If based on tryouts, there are enough players to form balanced and competitive teams at both age levels, MSC may offer separate teams for both birth years. Similarly, if MSC believes that inclusion of U15 players will be detrimental to the team formation, it reserves the right to not offer a program for these players.

We know that team formation can be a sensitive topic. There is no system that is perfect.  But after our review of the applicable data and input from the club membership, we truly feel that this is the best approach for our Club as we continue to provide the best environment for our players to achieve at the highest levels
